Our production of leather wallets and accessories is made from natural and renewable raw materials. Therefore, all products are made entirely by hand from high-quality leather and are a lifelong companion for our customers.
When producing leather goods, we only use natural leather that comes from the food chain. This ensures that we use natural resources responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
Why are your wallets so extremely durable?
It's very simple: We make our wallets exclusively by hand from genuine full-grain buffalo leather, which is considered the most robust leather in the world. We also seal the surface of the wallets using a special sanding technique. As our wallets are used, this creates a lively patina that underlines the individual character of this expressive leather.
What exactly is a Hodalump?
A Hodalump is translated as a cheeky guy who is up to no good.
He is funny, knows everything better and nobody can fool him!
He is the alpha animal, the boss or simply put, a hodalump.

Clean the surface thoroughly with a damp cloth. Then apply the leather care product (available from us) with a soft, clean cloth and massage it in gently. Avoid chemical cleaning agents.

The complex production process of a handmade one-of-a-kind piece at Hodalump & Ratschkatl is a true act of craftsmanship and therefore requires precise manual work and decades of experience.
1. Material selection: The process begins with the careful selection of high-quality materials. Only the best full-grain buffalo leather, goat leather or cow leather that comes from the food chain and is natural is used for our leather goods.
2. Cutting: Skilled craftsmen cut the leather into precise shapes according to the design of the product. Each piece is individually cut to ensure a perfect fit and to showcase the natural grain of the leather.
3. Sewing and double stitching: The individual parts are carefully sewn together by hand. Particular attention is paid to the double stitching in the most delicate areas of the product, which not only ensures a robust connection but is also a characteristic feature of our products.
4. Oiling and tanning: After sewing, the leather goods are oiled with high-quality vegetable oil to make the leather supple and to emphasize its natural color. This step also gives the leather a certain resistance to external influences.
5. Finishing and patina: A special grinding technique is used to seal the surface, which not only creates a beautiful shine, but also creates a lively patina. This patina develops over time and makes each wallet a unique one-of-a-kind.
6. Quality control: Every product undergoes the most stringent quality controls to ensure that it meets our high standards. Despite these controls, it occasionally happens that a seam comes apart due to the individual nature of the leather. For this reason, every order automatically comes with a guarantee for a period of 2 years: If a production defect occurs, please just contact us and we will send you a replacement free of charge.

Ich habe mir das Lederfett zur Pflege meines Kartenetui Special Edition gekauft und bin bisher sehr zufrieden damit. Es pflegt das Leder wie erwartet, zieht schnell ein und lässt sich sehr gut ins Leder einarbeiten. Besonders zu erwähnen ist, dass es sehr angenehm riecht und man das Kartenetui noch lieber in die Hand nimmt.
Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Produkt und werde es jederzeit wieder erwerben.

Are your leather goods waterproof?
Our leather goods are made of high-quality, robust buffalo leather, which is naturally water-repellent. They can withstand light rain, but are not completely waterproof.
To ensure the longevity of your Hodalump products, we recommend regular care with our leather grease. If your bag or wallet gets wet, it should be allowed to dry slowly in the air, but not directly on a heater. Dirt can be carefully removed with a dry cloth.
With the right care, your Hodalump will remain a reliable companion in any weather.
