Your Oktoberfest outfit in genuine leather

When the Wiesn calls, it is the evening before that decides whether the outfit works. The lederhosen are laid out, the hat as well — and then the belt is missing, or the wallet will not fit into the trouser pocket. So that this does not happen to you, everything is in one place here: lederhosen for women and men, traditional hats, belts, Haferl shoes, bags and the small items to match.

36 pieces that go together and come from the same material. All handcrafted from genuine leather, so that they see you through not just one season but many. Prices start at €24.95 for a belt and go up to €149.95 for a complete pair of lederhosen.

Our pieces are deliberately not styled as fancy dress. They work at the fair and just as well afterwards — a heart bag looks good at a summer party too, a Lumpi hat suits you at the weekend as well, and a leather belt is something you wear all year round anyway.

What you will find here for Oktoberfest

Sorted by what you need first:

  • Lederhosen: for men in sizes 48 to 56, for women as the Ratschkatl lederhosen in 36 to 44. From €119.95.
  • Traditional hats in three shapes — the classic Bayern hat, the narrower Billi and the Lumpi. All in Medium (56–57 cm), Large (58–59 cm) and XLarge (60–61 cm).
  • Leather belts for men in brown and black, waist 85 to 115 cm, plus a version with a hidden compartment. For women the Ratschkatl belts in croc, leopard, retro and classic, waist 70 to 100 cm.
  • Haferl shoes in cowhide, in sizes 41 to 46.
  • Bags: the Ingrid traditional shoulder bag in brown, green and black, and the heart bag to wear over the shoulder.
  • Wallets with a coat of arms or an ibex — flat for the lederhosen, with a chain for a secure hold, or classic for the jacket.
  • Waiter's holsters for women and men, for when you are behind the bar rather than in front of it.
  • Shirts with Hodalump and Ratschkatl motifs, and the ibex hip flask for the walk to the fairground.

Why genuine leather is the better choice at the fair

A pair of lederhosen is not a costume but a garment that gets better with the years. The leather takes on the shape of its wearer, develops a patina of its own and, after a few Oktoberfests, tells a story that no new purchase can replace. That is exactly why it pays to invest properly once instead of buying cheaply again every year.

The same goes for hat, belt, shoes and bag. On every piece we use through-dyed genuine leather rather than coated goods. The difference is barely noticeable on the first day — but all the clearer after the third downpour and the second season: coatings flake off, genuine leather becomes softer.

In practical terms that also means a knocked-over stein is no disaster on genuine leather. Dab it off, let it dry, work in some leather grease now and then — nothing more is needed.

What goes together

The classic combination for men: lederhosen, Haferl shoes, a traditional hat and a belt in the same leather colour. For the wallet one simple rule applies — it has to be flat enough for the trouser pocket. The Lenz portrait-format wallet and the card holder are built for exactly that. If you want to be on the safe side, take the version with a chain.

For women the Ingrid shoulder bag works with any lederhosen and any dirndl, because it stays narrow and does not get in the way in a crowd. The heart bag is the more playful alternative — more eye-catching, but just as suited to everyday use. The Ratschkatl belts in croc or leopard set a deliberate contrast when the rest is to stay quiet.

Colours that go together

Brown leather with brown leather, black with black — that is the safe bet. If you want to mix, keep to one rule: shoes and belt the same, bag and hat may differ. That is why our belts come in both base colours, and the shoulder bag additionally in green.

As a gift, too

A traditional hat, a belt or a coat-of-arms wallet are gifts that go down well without your having to know a clothing size. For the hat the head circumference is enough, for the belt the waist measurement. If you are entirely unsure: the gift voucher does not expire.

Order in good time

We dispatch within 24 hours on working days. Even so, if you want to wear your outfit for the opening tapping, do not wait until the last week. Experience shows that individual sizes in lederhosen and Haferl shoes are the first to sell out in September — and new leather takes a few days before it feels like yours.

Frequently asked questions about the Oktoberfest range

Which lederhosen suit which occasion?

Short lederhosen are the usual choice for the beer tent — they sit comfortably when you are standing on the bench for hours. Knee-length models look a little quieter and also work in cooler weather or at the Kirchweih in October.

How do the Haferl shoes fit?

True to size. We stock sizes 41 to 46. New cowhide takes a few hours to adapt to the shape of the foot — wear them indoors for two or three evenings before the festival and nothing will pinch.

Which belt size do I need?

What counts is the waist measurement, not the clothing size. Measure the circumference where the belt is to sit. We stock men's belts from 85 to 115 cm waist, the Ratschkatl belts for women from 70 to 100 cm. If in doubt, take the next size up — leather gives a little over time.

Which hat size is the right one?

Measure the head circumference just above the ears. Medium fits 56 to 57 cm, Large 58 to 59 cm, XLarge 60 to 61 cm. A hat may sit close, but it should not press.

Will a wallet fit into lederhosen?

A flat model fits best into the pocket of a pair of lederhosen. The Lenz portrait-format wallet and the card holder are built for it. The classic wallet is intended more for a jacket or a shoulder bag. If you want to feel secure in a crowd, take the wallet with a chain.

Can I wear the pieces outside the Wiesn as well?

That is exactly what they are made for. Hat, belt, bag and wallet work all year round, the lederhosen at any Kirchweih, any fair and any traditional-dress evening.

How do I care for leather after the festival?

Brush off the worst, dab marks with a damp cloth, let it dry in the air — never on the radiator. Treat it with leather grease or balm once or twice a year and the leather stays supple.

Hodalump & Ratschkatl® – Frequently Asked Questions

Wer ist Hodalump & Ratschkatl®?

We are a family business from Upper Bavaria, now in the fourth generation. That gives us knowledge of leather goods going back to 1947, and it shows in the quality of our products.

We combine rustic design with a modern touch — that is how we built our brand Hodalump & Ratschkatl®.

Sind eure Lederwaren wasserfest?

Our leather goods are made from high-quality, hard-wearing buffalo leather, which is naturally water-repellent. Light rain does them no harm, but they are not fully waterproof.

To keep your Hodalump products going for years, we recommend regular care with our leather grease. If your bag or wallet does get wet, let it dry slowly in the air — never directly on a radiator. Dirt can be removed carefully with a dry cloth.

With the right care, your Hodalump stays a reliable companion in any weather.

How long does delivery take?

We know you want your new Hodalump bag in your hands as soon as possible. That is why we usually ship orders within 24 hours of receiving payment.

Delivery within Germany takes around 1–2 working days. Orders to other European countries can take 2–4 working days depending on the country. We work with reliable carriers such as DHL to make sure your parcel reaches you quickly and safely.

As soon as your parcel is on its way, you will receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number so you can follow your order at any time.

If you have any questions about your delivery, our customer service is always there to help.

How do returns and exchanges work?

We want you to be completely happy with your Hodalump order. If an item does not meet your expectations, or you would like to exchange it, you can do so easily.

How does a return or exchange work?
Send a short message to our customer service at kundenservice@hodalump-ratschkatl.de with your order number and the reason for the return.

Can I buy your products in shops as well?

Yes, you can buy our leather goods in store too — at selected OBI and Hagebau stores, at various specialist leather retailers and in local shops. Altogether we are stocked by more than 500 retailers. There you can also pick up our products and see the quality for yourself. The widest choice, though, is right here in our online shop.
