Wallet with a chain

A chain on a wallet has a very practical reason: what is tied on stays put. At a festival, in a crowd, getting out of the car — the wallet does not fall out and cannot be pulled from a pocket unnoticed.

Then there is the look. The chain wallet has been part of the picture for decades, whether on jeans or with traditional dress. It is one of the few accessories that is functional and eye-catching at the same time.

What matters in the chain

Snap hooks at both ends: that way the chain can be taken off when it gets in the way, and used on another wallet.
Length: around 40 to 50 centimetres is enough to pull the wallet comfortably out of the pocket without the chain dangling at the knee.
An eyelet rather than a rivet hole: the chain must not grip straight through the leather — otherwise it will tear out in time. A riveted metal eyelet spreads the load.
Weight: a heavy chain looks robust but pulls the wallet out of the pocket. Medium weight is the sensible compromise.

It is worn on the belt or on a belt loop, while the wallet itself goes into the back or front pocket.

With traditional dress and with jeans

On lederhosen the chain sits on the Charivari ring or on a belt loop — it matches the metal fittings that are on the traditional belt anyway. On jeans it simply works as what it is: a visible safeguard.

For a visit to the Wiesn it is one of the most sensible purchases there is. In the tent there is pushing, standing and dancing — a loose wallet in a back pocket is the first thing to go missing there.

Leather and fittings

The wallet itself is of through-dyed genuine leather with stitched edges. The eyelet for the chain is riveted and backed with a metal washer, so that the pull does not rest on a single spot of leather.

Frequently asked questions

Can the chain be taken off?

Yes. Both ends have a snap hook, so the chain comes off in seconds. The wallet then works like any other.

Does the chain damage the trousers?

Not with normal wear. If you wear it very long, take care that it does not rub constantly over the seam of the back pocket.

Will the wallet fit into a trouser pocket despite the chain?

Yes, the chain hangs on the outside. Only the eyelet adds a minimal amount of bulk.

Is this only for traditional dress?

No. The chain wallet comes from everyday use and works just as well on jeans. It is simply especially common with traditional dress, because metal fittings are worn there anyway.

Unsere Lederwaren bestehen aus hochwertigem, robustem Büffelleder, das von Natur aus wasserabweisend ist. Leichter Regen macht ihnen nichts aus, jedoch sind sie nicht vollständig wasserdicht.

Um die Langlebigkeit deiner Hodalump Produkte zu gewährleisten, empfehlen wir eine regelmäßige Pflege mit unserem Lederfett. Falls deine Tasche oder Geldbörse nass wird, sollte sie langsam an der Luft trocknen, jedoch nicht direkt auf einer Heizung. Verschmutzungen können mit einem trockenen Tuch vorsichtig entfernt werden.

Mit der richtigen Pflege bleibt dein Hodalump ein zuverlässiger Begleiter bei jedem Wetter.

Wie lange dauert der Versand?

Wir wissen, dass du deine neue Hodalump-Tasche so schnell wie möglich in den Händen halten möchtest! Deshalb versenden wir Bestellungen in der Regel innerhalb von 24 Stunden nach Zahlungseingang.

Die Lieferzeit beträgt innerhalb Deutschlands ca. 1–2 Werktage. Bestellungen ins europäische Ausland können je nach Land 2–4 Werktage dauern. Wir arbeiten mit zuverlässigen Versanddienstleistern wie DHL, um sicherzustellen, dass dein Paket schnell und sicher bei dir ankommt.
