Our production of leather wallets and accessories uses natural and renewable raw materials. Therefore, all products are made from high-quality leather in pure craftsmanship and are a lifelong companion for our customers.
Only natural leather from the food chain is used in the production of leather goods. This ensures that we handle nature's resources responsibly and environmentally consciously.
Why are your wallets so extremely durable?
It's very simple: We craft our wallets exclusively by hand from genuine full-grain buffalo leather, which is considered the most robust leather in the world. Additionally, we seal the surface of the wallets using a special sanding technique. During the use of our wallets, this creates a lively patina that emphasizes the individual character of this expressive leather.
What exactly is a Hodalump?
A Hodalump is translated as a cheeky fellow who is very clever.
He is funny, knows everything better, and no one can fool him!

Clean the surface thoroughly with a damp cloth. Then apply the leather conditioner (available from us) with a soft, clean cloth and gently massage it in. Avoid chemical cleaning agents.

How leather goods are made at Hodalump & Ratschkatl
The complex production process of a handcrafted, unique piece at Hodalump & Ratschkatl is a true act of craftsmanship and therefore requires precise handwork and decades of experience.
1. Material selection: The process begins with the careful selection of high-quality materials. Only the finest full-grain buffalo leather, goatskin, or cowhide, sourced from the food chain and untreated, is used for our leather goods.
2. Cutting: Experienced craftsmen cut the leather into precise shapes according to the product design. Each piece is individually cut to ensure a perfect fit and to showcase the leather's natural grain.
3. Sewing and double stitching: The individual pieces are carefully sewn together by hand. Particular attention is paid to the double stitching in the most critical areas of the product, which not only ensures a robust connection but is also a distinctive feature of our products.
4. Oiling and tanning: After sewing, the leather goods are oiled with high-quality vegetable oil to make the leather supple and enhance its natural color. This step also gives the leather a certain resistance to external influences.
5. Finishing and patina: A special sanding technique seals the surface, which not only provides a beautiful shine but also creates a vibrant patina. This patina develops over time, making each wallet unique and one of a kind.
6. Quality Control: Every product undergoes stringent quality controls to ensure it meets our high standards. Despite these controls, it occasionally happens that a seam unravels due to the individual nature of the leather. Therefore, every order automatically comes with a two-year warranty: Should a manufacturing defect occur, please simply contact us, and we will send you a replacement free of charge.

Our leather goods are made from high-quality, durable buffalo leather, which is naturally water-repellent. They're not afraid of light rain, but they're not completely waterproof.
To ensure the longevity of your Hodalump products, we recommend regular care with our leather lubricant. If your bag or wallet gets wet, let it air dry slowly, but not directly on a heater. Dirt can be carefully removed with a dry cloth.
With proper care, your Hodalump will remain a reliable companion in any weather.
How long does shipping take?
We know you want to get your new Hodalump bag as soon as possible! That's why we usually ship orders within 24 hours of receiving payment.
Delivery within Germany takes approximately 1–2 business days. Orders to other European countries can take 2–4 business days, depending on the country. We work with reliable shipping providers like DHL to ensure your package arrives quickly and safely.
